Gianluca Massa (Gigi) (b.1997, Malta) is a painter based in London. Central to his practice is an investigation into modes of opacity and queer figuration, and their role in articulating and destabilising the limits of contemporary discourses around identity politics. His work tends towards the anti-heroic, troubling naturalised conventions of representation, canonical painterly tradition and hierarchies of taste.
